Spay/Neuter Assistance
Spay/Neuter Assistance
APAW’s main objective is to provide low cost Spay/Neuter Assistance to area citizens. Spaying and neutering your pets benefits your neighbors, your family, and the pets themselves. For more information on the benefits of spaying and neutering your pets, please click here.
What Will It Cost?
With an APAW low cost spay or neuter certificate, pet owners pay only $25.00 to neuter a male cat, $35.00 to spay a female cat, and $50.00 to spay or neuter a dog.
How Do I Receive Assistance?
Receiving spay/neuter assistance from APAW is easy, and can be done several ways: You can download the form here, pick up a form at the James L. Hamner Public Library, The Amelia County Administrator’s office, the Amelia County Treasurer’s office, The Amelia County Animal Shelter, at any of the participating veterinarian’s offices, or contact us to mail you one of our forms.
After you fill out one of our forms, you need to mail it to APAW, PO BOX 725 Amelia, VA 23002. Please keep in mind that it may take four to six weeks in order for you to receive your certificate in the mail. If it takes longer than 4 to 6 weeks, then please feel free to contact us.
Please note that our certificates only apply to the actual surgery performed on the cat or dog. In order to get an idea of how much the entire visit may cost, please contact the veterinarian you plan on using. Some veterinarians require that the animal first have all its shots, be flea free, or have a full physical before actually performing the surgery. Other vets have a flat fee on just seeing the animal. These are all considerations and possible fees that may be tacked on to your bill. Please keep in mind that APAW’s spay/neuter assistance certificate does NOT cover these extra costs.
